A year ago, on February 23, 2017, a year ago, we registered our organization. Our mission is to promote and celebrate the rich multi-ethnic culture of the Russian-speaking people of Kansas and Missouri. We welcome everyone who shares the same interest. To grow a new non-profit organization is very rewarding and challenging at the same time. It is only possible with the help and support of many of you.
We would like to thank our Board of Directors which is represented by people that are originally from Russia and Ukraine.We thank our members and friends that represent: Russia (including republics of Tatarstan, Dagestan and Kabardino-Balkaria); USA (States of MO, KS, CA, CO, OK, TX & MD); Ukraine; Belarus; Latvia; Estonia; Morocco; Israel; Malaysia; Azerbaijan; Brazil; Uzbekistan; India; Pakistan; Turkey; and other. We are very proud that Russian House of Kansas City was joined by great local organizations such as Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Kansas City Ballet, Park University, Writers Place and we partnered for the program with the National World War I Museum and Memorial. And on February 23, 2018, we welcomed the Jewish Family Services of Greater Kansas City (JFS) as our member and community partner. We appreciate small businesses and their owners for being our members. We would like to thank our Honorary Members from Russia, Azerbaijan and USA -- great professionals that represent music, literature and sport. We thank our sponsors for their support in the past year: Irina’s Gourmet Bakery Irina and Nikolay Yefremov, Kansas City RU and Lana Yeager, Park University (International Students Department), European Delights and Rita Reznikov and Oleg Grimberg, Le Petite Farm and Galina Konrad, as well as our members Jeffrey Leiserowitz and Tatiana Scanlan. We thank Mr. Joel English with the Entrepreneurship Innovation Center of KCKSCC for the support. We thank Jane Allstat as well. We also thank Mr. Jim Selle and Stinson Leonard Street LLP for their support and assistance. About our last year activities. We organized several events and programs including DAY OF CULTURE Series. We opened it with the presentation about Azerbaijan. Our special thanks to Dr. Kubra Alieva, our Honorary Member. We had a successful educational event, commemorating the 100-year anniversary of Socialist Revolution of 1917. The event took place in the National WWI Museum and Memorial. We thank Mr. Doran Cart from the WWI Museum and the Museum of Russian Culture in San-Francisco, CA, for their support. We participated in promotional events for the Lyric Opera’s production of Eugene Onegin. It was beautiful. Thank you Lyric Opera of Kansas City for this experience!We enjoyed visiting the Kansas City Ballet and learning about their founders. We represented our culture at several local international festivals organized by: Ethnic Enrichment Commission of Kansas City, Mid America Asian Culture Association, Park University, UMKC and other. At the Ethnic Enrichment Festival, for the first time in Kansas City, we introduced the Tatar ethnic group from Russia. We are proud to be members of EEC and MAACA. We created a monthly newsletter and the Instagram page. We thank our News and Marketing Committee representatives Misha Marchenko and Elena Brefo for helping us with sharing news about Russian House of Kansas City. We started Asia Papinako Scholarship Fund. This year we are introducing new RUSSIAN SEASONS IN KANSAS CITY series with the Maslenitsa event that took place on February 25, 2018. We were invited to local TV and radio. News about us were written in the US and Russian-Tatar newspapers (Russian America and Өмет). We believe that our new organization is very important to everyone who is interested in promoting diversity in our area and in learning about different cultures. We are about connections, friendships, multiculturalism and well-being of our community. Our Russian House of Kansas City is one-year old. It takes time to build it big.
