The 40th Ethnic Festival in Kansas City has concluded.
Our team worked very hard to make this event enjoyable, fun and festive. Our fashion team presented ethnic costumes: Russian, Tatar and Kabardino-Balkarian - Zhanna and Leyla; Tatar - Lana; and Kabardino-Balkarian - Viktoria. We thank our multiethnic group of volunteers that worked long hours during the festival: Nour, Zhanna, Leyla, Jeff, Don, Elena, Svetlana, Ruth, Maks, Niko, Vito, Denise, Leo, Oskar, Tatiana, Masha, Vera, Maria, Galina, Oleksandr, Ilya, Dean, Vladimir, Oliver, Elmira, Natalia and Lana. We thank our team of performers: Masha, Oliver, Ivan, Leyla, Viktoria, Zhanna, Oliver and Lana. We thank our Ethnic Enrichment Commission representatives: Svetlana and Ian. We thank our media partner: The Russian America newspaper with the Russian Kansas City section. The Ethnic Festival of Kansas City is a unique event that promotes union, friendship and diversity. The Ethnic Enrichment Festival in Swope Park is scheduled for August 18, 19 & 20, 2017.
The Russian Commission will be represented by the Russian House of Kansas City (Russian Cultural Association). We will have a food and craft booth and participate in the following events: Parade of Flags, Traditional Costume Fashion Show and Stage Performance (songs and dances). The Festival Committee of the Russian House is working hard to plan our festival participation, and includes the following members of the Russian House: Lana Yeager. Commissioner of Russia at EEC, a member of the EEC Festival Committee; Ian Schmidt, The Alternate Commissioner of Russia at EEC; Nikolay & Irina Yefremov, Irina's Bakery; Tatiala Scanlan, Professor at JCCC; Inga Vereshshagina, Sunquenn Art & Viktoria Burge, a dance instructor. Your Support Matters! Volunteers of any ethnicity who love the Russian culture and language are welcome! We need a group of volunteers (especially, men) to build the Russian booth. We need volunteers to help us in the booth during the festival. We need young volunteers to help us at the passport table at our booth. We encourage young people to participate in our events. One of them can be an EEC scholarship applicant from our organization. We need volunteers in costumes to participate in the Fashion Show and Parade of Flags.
